Homework March 8-12

Put the date at the top of each journal page! Parents, please work with your child, but do not do the work for you child. Let them show you what they know!

Monday (Phonics & Writing): 1.) Write your first and last name using correct capital and lowercase letters; 2.) Write a short story (2-3 sentences) about Zelda the Zebra who lives in the zoo using fingerspaces and punctuation. Illustrate using colors and details.

Tuesday (Math): Draw a picture using coins to show 3 different ways to make 10 cents. Label your coins with the correct amount. Practice counting coins for 10 minutes up to 10 cents.

Wednesday (Science/Social Studies): We learned about inventors in Social Studies. Write two sentences about a famous inventor. Include the inventor’s name, and the name of their invention.

Thursday (Language Arts): We are practicing dictation in class. Read the sentence below aloud to your child. Repeat it slowly. Ask him/her to write the sounds they heard to make a sentence. Remind them to use capitals at the beginning, spaces between words, and punctuation. When finished, compare your child’s sentence to the sentence on the homework sheet. Practice writing the words they missed, paying attention to the letter sounds they hear.

We will go to see the red cat.

Friday (Reading): Read three books this weekend for fun. Which was your favorite?

*Remind your child to turn in their Homework Journal this week. They are due on Fridays.*

Have fun!
