Monday (Phonics & Writing): 1.) Draw or cut out 3 pictures of things that begin with Bb. Pick one of the pictures and write a sentence using the following words: “I see a (color word) (name of picture).” 2.) Write your first name 5 times with the first letter uppercase and the remaining letters lowercase.

Tuesday (Math): 1.) Draw five kids standing in line. Color the first kid red. Color the third kid blue. Color the second kid yellow. Color the fourth kid orange. Color the fifth one green. Circle the last kid in line.

Wednesday (Science/Social Studies): We are learning about modern times and long ago. Either bring in photos or draw pictures of your mother when she was a little girl, and now that she is an adult. We will compare and contrast the pictures in class.

Thursday (Language Arts): We have read the book “Goldilocks and the Bears.” Discuss and summarize your favorite part of the story (i.e. “I really liked it when….”) and draw a picture of it. Be sure to use colors and details in your drawing.

Friday (Reading activities): Read lots of books!

**Please do all assignments in your Homework Journal. Make sure to write name and date at the top of each page.

Homework Journals are due on Fridays.**

I Went Walking - Our own take on the kid's classic book by the same name. The students tell about what we found out side of our school.

PowerPoints:
1, 2, Buckle Your Shoe - a rhyming game about numbers and counting
Let's Count!!! - Use numerals, fingers and bouncing balls to count up to 10.
Sight Word Chant - Chant along with the blue letters, and your child will be reading and spelling sight words in no time.

Tuesday (Math): 1.) Draw a two groups of objects (i.e. 3 circles & 5 squares). Circle the group that has fewer items. Write the numbers below the groups.

Wednesday (Science/Social Studies): 1.) We are learning about animal habitats. Draw or cut out one picture of each type of animal: land animal, water animal, flying animal. 2.) Remember to bring your storybook character costume to school for the parade, along with the School Wide Book Report.

Thursday (Language Arts): Read a book. Talk about the characters and the setting (place). Make a list of all the characters in the story, and draw a picture of the setting.

Friday (Family Project): NO SCHOOL. Have a great weekend!

Write your first name 5 times with the first letter uppercase and the remaining letters lowercase. 3.) Field trip money was due last Friday. Please turn it in tomorrow if you have not already done so, or your child will be unable to attend.

Tuesday (Math): 1.) Write numbers 0-5. Draw fall pictures next to each number to show the number (i.e. draw 2 pumpkins next to the number two). 2.) Finish your Family Project if you have not already done so (take walk, collect fall items, put in bag with a paper plate). Send it in tomorrow.

Wednesday (Science/Social Studies): Draw a picture of an event that is special to your family. Write one sentence to describe it using the word “We” (i.e. “We go camping.”)

Thursday (Language Arts): Write 2 sentences using the words “We see ______.”

Friday (Reading): 1.) Read a book with your family. 2.) Draw four pictures of animals that live in the sea. Label each picture.

We would like to remind you of some upcoming Fall activities that are taking place next week, and we welcome you to come participate if you can.


First up is our Nature Walk field trip to High Bridge Park on Tuesday, October 27 at 10:00. Just like the nature walks you have been taking at home, we will look for and discuss various autumn changes at the park. The kids will eat lunch and have some time to play as well before we head back to school. Several of you indicated on the permission slip that you would like to chaperone. Please make sure you have submitted your fingerprinting receipt to the front office if you plan on chaperoning.


On Thursday, October 29 at 12:30, we will have our Storybook Parade. Students will dress up just like the characters from their book reports and parade all around the school grounds. A book report form and explanation letter were sent home recently. Please be sure to help your child complete this, as it will count for a grade. Dressing up for the parade is optional. If you can, please come out to march with us, and bring your cameras!


After the parade we will have a class party with food, music, and dancing to some of our favorite Kindergarten tunes. Our Room Mom, Mrs. Calloway, is coordinating the snacks for us, so please contact her if you would like to contribute or help out in any way.


As we know, cold/allergy/flu season has hit us, and many of our students have been out sick with various illness. We just want to remind you to please keep your child at home if they have fever, rash ,vomiting or diarrhea and are fever-free for 24 hours. Also, children are NOT allowed to bring medications to school in their backpacks. If you need your child to have medicine administered to them during school hours, you must get a form from the nurse and deliver the medicine directly to her yourself . Teachers can not administer medicine. Thank you for your cooperation.

Q:Think back to when you were a little child. Who was your first teacher?
A: Your parents!

Parents are a child's first teacher, and we know that parental involvement is the key to academic growth and learning. So with that in mind, we are beginning to put a variety of things your child's blue folder that encourage home learning.  Last week, a supplemental packet of work came home. We will sometimes send these home with students just to provide some extra reinforcement of concepts we learned in class. This supplemental work is not for a grade, but if you could find the time to use them for home learning, they will greatly help your child.

Another packet you will see today is an article with fun activities that will  help your child learn to read. Each Monday, another article from the series will come home. As we come across other interesting reads, we will share them with you as well.

We are also sending home a list of sight words that we are working on in class. You can create flash cards with the words and use them in fun games, such as Concentration, Bingo, Crazy Eights, or Go Fish. When your child masters all the words on the Kindergarten list, we'll send home a new list that you can work on.
